The Shangri La Paris is located on Avenue d'lena in the 16th arr. of Paris. It's housed in the former royal palace of Prince Roland Bonaparte and it is probably the most beautiful hotel in all of Paris. The hotel is boutique with only 100 rooms in total ranging from Superior rooms and Terrace Eiffel rooms with views of the Eiffel Tower through to spacious suits and Duplex suites with Eiffel Tower views. The hotel boasts three restaurants two of which have Michelin stars, absolutely stunning conference rooms which feature gold decor and original palace features as well as a lounge bar and outdoor garden terraces. The customer service was exceptional and gave us the feeling of staying in a palace and being treated like royalty. We decided to stay here after our UK cruise on Oceania Cruises Marina, you can read more about that trip here. We booked this hotel direct with Shangri La which meant we would earn points on our stay through their golden circle program which can be transferred to Virgin Australia's Velocity program.

The Room
We were excited to see our room as we had booked one of the Terrace Eiffel Rooms which have their own private terrace with arguably the best view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris located on level 5 of the hotel. It certainly didn't disappoint, the room was spacious with a large walk in robe, period style spacious marble bathroom with seperate toilet and shower cubicles and a large bathtub. The bathroom also has a mirror with a built in tv allowing you to catch up on the news while you get ready in the morning, as well as featuring Guerlain toiletries and a heated floor. Lets face it though this room is all about the terrace and that view of the Eiffel Tower and it's truly amazing, the terrace has two outdoor lounge chairs, a dining table with seating for three, beautiful potted plants, a retractable awning providing protection from the sun or the rain as well as an outdoor gas heater allowing guests to use the terrace year round. The room features a king size bed with Shangri La's signature bedding, writing desk and a comfortable lounge chair with side table. The room also has a fully stocked mini bar, Nespresso coffee machine, flat screen tv and there was a complimentary fruit bowl and macaroons upon arrival.
Customer Service
We found the customer service exceptional and probably the best we have experienced in all of the hotels we have stayed at. They always strived to go above and beyond during our stay and made us feel like royalty, the duty manager also took the time to take us on a tour of the entire hotel and its magnificent rooms and the gift of a bottle of Vueve Cliquot Champagne and macaroons to enjoy on our terrace on the last night of our stay was also a very nice touch.
Restaurants & Bars
As we had a very busy schedule we didn't get time to eat in the hotels restaurants however as mentioned above two of them have coveted Michelin Star's so that really speaks for itself as far as the quality of the restaurants, you can visit the hotels website below to read up on the restaurants and see their menus. They also have a romantic in room dining degustation option for guests staying in the terrace rooms that includes multiple courses from their Michelin Star restaurants served on your terrace by your own private butler. As mentioned above due to our busy schedules we didn't get to try out all of the options however we did enjoy drinks at the hotels amazing lounge bar with its wood panelled fireplaces and Murano chandeliers, we also ordered room service on our last night so we could enjoy dining on our terrace. The food and drink options were excellent as was the service.
Public Rooms
The hotel has truly beautiful public rooms, the entry, reception and concierge areas have patterned marble floors and the bar and lounge have parquetry timber floors creating a warm inviting place to sit down and enjoy a drink. The stunning centrepiece is the marble staircase with statue which leads up to the conference rooms which are the palaces former ballrooms which are adorned in gold and of course the palace has Murano chandeliers throughout. There were multiple weddings being hosted during our stay and we could easily see why as what bride wouldn't want a fairytale wedding in a fairytale palace, not to mention getting married in the city of love. From what we could gauge the wedding parties were all from overseas so obviously word of this amazing venue has spread around the world.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel also has it's own day spa on the lower level of the palace as well as a fitness centre and large indoor heated swimming pool which has a full height glass doors looking out on to a garden terrace which gives you the feeling of being in a country palace instead of in the middle of Paris. There is also another outdoor garden terrace for all guests to enjoy and a roof terrace to enjoy views of the Eiffel Tower when the weather is good or if you like to people watch there is another outdoor terrace street side.
Summary
As mentioned the Shangri La Paris is arguably the most beautiful hotel in Paris, it is one of the few places in the world where you can experience what its like to live in a royal palace. We loved our stay at this truly amazing hotel and would highly recommend the Shangri La Paris to anyone looking to stay in Paris, even if your unable to stay at least visit for a cocktail at the bar or dinner in one of their Michelin starred restaurants so you too can experience this amazing palace. We hope to stay with them again in the future hopefully for a little longer next time.
