Hotel Review: QT Hotel Melbourne

The QT Hotel Melbourne is located on Russell Street in Melbourne's CBD, it's central location is within close walking distance of Bourke Street Mall, China Town and Melbourne's many theatres. The hotel offers a range of accomodation from king rooms, executive king rooms through to loft king rooms. We were able to book this hotel through Virgin Holidays which allowed us to earn Velocity points on our stay.

The Room

We were excited to see our QT Executive King room as the QT Melbourne is known for its industrial chic design, it's certainly makes an impressive statement as you walk in the room with its timber floors, concrete ceilings and chic furniture. The room is industrial modern and has a king size bed with a desk behind the bed head, couch, dining table and chair. There is a large bathroom with bath tub and shower located in a wet room, a seperate toilet and a basin vanity area, the sliding doors behind the basins slide open to give basin access from the bedroom so you can fill up the coffee machine. The bathroom features Kevin Murphy toiletries and has the same industrial feel as the rest of the room with a black and white tile theme. The room also has a fully stocked mini bar and coffee machine, being that QT is owned by the same company that owns Event Cinemas it's no surprise a lot of the snacks are the same as you would find at the cinema candy bar. We loved the industrial feel of the room and the amount of natural light that came in from the large windows although we felt they could be double glazed as the street noise did keep us up for most of the night.

Customer Service

We found the customer service excellent and could not fault the service at all. We love the quirky attire the staff wear which is almost a bit reminiscent of the hunger games mixed with hipster attire. The lobby staff were very helpful and friendly as were the staff at the roof top bar.

Restaurants & Bars

We visited the amazing QT Rooftop Bar both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food, drinks and Melbourne's best rooftop view but unfortunately did not get time to try Pascale Bar & Grill which is the hotels restaurant. We ordered room service breakfast during our stay, unusually the hotel does not have the room service breakfast forms which you hang on the door before bed, instead you need to ring up room service and place your order when your ready for breakfast. Whilst it is a different set up to most hotels the food came within 20mins of our order so with that sort of turn around time it means you don't need to think ahead about breakfast the night before. Overall we were very happy with the food and beverages offered by the hotel and would highly recommend the rooftop bar.

Summary

As mentioned we were very happy with the food, drinks and service that the hotel provided. The rooms were modern industrial, chic, tidy and all have great natural light during the day. The hotel is also within walking distance of many of the nearby attractions so you cant beat its location. Our only criticism of the hotel was as mentioned above the amount of street noise that comes in to the room through the windows but it probably wouldn't be a problem for rooms that don't face Russell Street. In saying that we would highly recommend the QT Melbourne and it's amazing rooftop bar to anyone looking to stay in Melbourne's CBD and will definitely visit again in the future.
