Hotel Review: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Marina Bay Sands is an iconic luxury hotel and casino complex in Singapore's marina percent. Offering a range of accomodation from premier rooms, club rooms through to suites, all rooms feature amazing harbour city views or views over the Singapore Straight. We decided to stay here during our South East Asia trip due to it being within walking distance of the main tourist areas such as Gardens by The Bay and Singapore Merlion, you can read more about that trip here.

The Room

We were excited to see our club room as Marina Bay Sands is know for its amazing views of Singapore, its certainly impressive as you walk in the room and take in the view. The room is spacious with a king size bed, writing desk, lounge and two comfortable lounge chairs. There is a large marble bathroom with a bath, seperate shower and seperate toilet. The room also has a fully stocked mini bar and a Nespresso coffee machine. We loved the city view across the harbour, its an amazing view especially at night when the city shines bright. Its worth noting that hotels in Asia still have smoking and no smoking rooms so make sure you confirm that you want a no smoking room if you don't want a room that smells like smoke.

Customer Service

We found the customer service in the club lounge excellent and could not fault the service at all. The staff at reception were also friendly however due to the enormous capacity of this hotel you need to take a number and then wait to be called to be checked in if your in a club room or if your not then you need to line up with the other several hundred people attempting to check in.

Restaurants & Bars

We used the Club 55 Lounge during our stay for breakfast and evening Champagne and Canapés but did not get time to try out the other restaurants in the hotel. In the evening they had lots of Asian and European style canapés as well as cocktails and French champagne, we especially liked the Asian food options which were especially tasty. At breakfast time you can fill your plate up at the buffet plus they also have an al a carte menu if you want something cooked to order like Eggs Benedict or omelettes but as we were in Asia we decided to have an asian breakfast from the buffet choices available which were really tasty. Overall we were very happy with the food and beverage offered by the hotel.

Skypark

The Skypark is a cantilevered platform at the top of the hotel is home to the worlds largest rooftop infinity edge pool offering amazing views of Singapore both day and night. There is also an observation deck, restaurants and bars however due to the number of guests the hotel has we found the pool and associated sun lounge areas crowded and noisy so not really the sort of place to go if you want to relax.

Summary

As mentioned we were very happy with the food, drinks and service that the hotel provided. The room was spacious, luxurious, tidy and all had amazing city views both day and night. It's one downside is that it has one of the largest number of guests of any of the hotels in the city so it can often feel more like your in an amusement park than a hotel and you should allow plenty of time as you often need to line up to be served. The hotel is however within walking distance of many of the cities tourist attractions so you cant beat its location. We would highly recommend the Marina Bay Sands to anyone looking to stay in an iconic Singapore hotel and would stay with them again.
